Freeman hit a two-run single to tie the Series record of 12 RBIs, set by Bobby Richardson over seven games in 1960, and was voted Series MVP. With the Dodgers one out from losing Friday’s opener, Freeman hit a game-ending grand slam reminiscent of Kirk Gibson’s homer off Oakland’s Dennis Eckersley in 1988’s Game 1 that sparked Los Angeles to the title.< how much do you need to run to lose weight /p>

Los Angeles rallied back from an early hole to beat the New York Yankees 7-6 in Game 5 at Yankee Stadium, accomplishing one more piece of history with the biggest comeback to clinch a World Series in baseball history.

The Los Angeles Dodgers won their eighth World Series title in franchise history and first since 2020 on Wednesday night, coming back from a five-run deficit to complete a Hollywood ending to their season.

“I’ve definitely got to step up, and I’ve got to do my job,” Judge said. “Guys around me are doing their jobs, getting on base, and I’m failing at backing them up. We’ve got to turn it around in Game 3.”

“Those guys might not have the most experience on the field but they’re constantly getting reps in the dugout or in practice,” he said. “When they can go out and have the success that they’re having it’s just a testament to the amount of work they put in aside from the games.”

The Aggies plated two runs in the eighth to shrink the score to 6-3 before Tennessee reliever Kirby Connell struck out two batters who each represented the tying run. They drove in two more in the ninth, but couldn’t pull off the final comeback.

You can expect to see a heavy dose of Cortez on Sunday. Aschenbeck said he would be available after throwing 46 pitches over 2.2 innings Saturday. He’s thrown back-to-back days four times this season, but never after such an extended outing. How early A&M will be able to call on him is a bit of an unknown, as is whether it would be willing to use him in a game it isn’t leading, knowing that a potential game 3 looms Monday. The Aggies will likely need someone else to step up on the mound and carry at least an inning or two.

According to review aggregator Metacritic, the game received «mixed or average reviews» from critics. Game Informer compared it to Left 4 Dead series and praised its shooting mechanics, visuals and story, but criticized its soundtrack and lack of non-vocal player interactions.

Now, with Ohtani in his first World Series along with star rookie Yoshinobu Yamamoto, it is a huge deal for a nation where baseball is as ingrained in the culture as it is across America. Sports stores here are packed with merchandise from shirts to hats to inflatable bats. Watch parties are being organized over Japanese breakfast to embrace the 13-hour time difference.

Volpe, a homegrown shortstop from nearby Morristown, N.J., made a bad read while running the bases in the second inning. The mistake might have cost the Yankees a chance to tie the game, but redemption came an inning later on a first-pitch slider that Volpe hit 390 feet to left-center field. The grand slam put the Yankees in front 5-2, their first lead since the 10th inning of Game 1.

Over the past month, watching Freeman has been painful. Not only because throughout the Dodgers’ first 11 playoff games he hadn’t mustered an extra-base hit. Freeman is clearly in pain. His sprained ankle throbs. His body aches. He is an eight-time All-Star, a future Hall of Famer, a World Series champion with Atlanta in 2021. He had been through a brutal year already, with his 3-year-old son, Max, suffering through a bout of Guillain-Barré syndrome. Freeman kept pushing through the pain, hoping the five days off since the NLCS would do his body enough good to do something memorable.

“That’s a tough one,” he said. “It really is. I think that’s a really hard thing to do in general. In the regular season, it’s a really difficult task to kind of be locked from the first pitch of the game on. But I do believe that the playoffs presents a different aspect where you kind of are expecting that a little more.
